Sage 100 2026 Service Pack 1 Is Out: Here's What You Need to Know Before You Upgrade

The Sage 100 2026 Service Pack 1 upgrade is more complex than any recent Sage 100 release, so here's what you need to know.

First, let's talk about what's new.

Sage 100 2026 has some great added features, including an AI-powered help assistant, extended character counts across more areas, and expanded audit capabilities.

Here are details on the biggest feature updates:

  • Global Search lets you pull up any record, such as an invoice tied to a salesperson or an inventory item in a specific warehouse, from anywhere in the system without opening a module.

  • Paperless Office now consolidates multiple invoices to the same customer into a single email instead of firing off a new email for each invoice, and it lets you zip multiple forms into a single attachment.

  • Extended character counts across Lot/Serial Number (50 characters), Price Level (15 characters), and Sales Order Package Tracking Number (40 characters, to align with FedEx Ground and DHL eCommerce) fields.

  • Full audit trail for roles and users, with new Role Audit and User Audit reports, plus password validation and configurable inactivity timeouts.

  • Sage Help Agent, an AI-powered assistant on the Home tab that lets you ask questions in plain English and then points you to the right spot in Help. This is great for when someone unfamiliar with a task has to cover for a teammate.

Why We Always Wait for Service Pack 1

You likely received a lot of marketing materials from Sage about version 2026 back in April, so you might be wondering why we're just finally getting around to talking about it now.

It has to do with realism.

Every major Sage 100 release ships with what we'll call "rough edges," which is why we never recommend that clients move to a new version on the day it comes out, or even that quarter. Instead, we strongly suggest that you wait for the first service pack, because that's when the Sage community (including consultants, third-party add-on developers, and users like you) has had time to identify early issues, so Sage can fix them.

Now that Service Pack 1 has been released, the 2026 version should be smooth enough to ensure a better upgrade process and user experience for your company.

Except for one REALLY BIG thing:

Sage 100 2026 Is 64-Bit Only

If you're still running 32-bit Sage 100, you cannot install version 2026 on that same server. You also can't run 32-bit and 64-bit side by side while you transition, which makes the upgrade to version 2026 an infrastructure decision.

You'll need to plan for:

  • A separate server, or a cloud-hosted / virtual machine environment, if you'd rather not invest in new physical hardware anymore

  • Removing the 32-bit version, installing the 64-bit version, and testing all your integrations to ensure they still work normally

  • Confirming that all your computers are running Windows 11, because Sage 100 2026 isn't certified for Windows 10

To be clear, none of this is a reason to avoid the upgrade. You'll need to make this move eventually, and Sage's 2026 improvements are useful. You just need to plan it like the infrastructure project it is, rather than treating it like a routine version upgrade.

How to Approach the Decision

Now that Sage 100 2026 Service Pack 1 is out, it's the right time to start discussing your upgrade timeline and needs.

You'll want to:

  1. Determine whether you’re currently running 32-bit or 64-bit Sage (version 2025 had both options)

  2. Confirm your workstations are Windows-11-ready (or that you already have Windows 11)

  3. Verify your Windows Server (we recommend running Sage 100 2026 on Windows Server 2025 or 2022)

  4. Set up a clear process for testing your third-party tools, Paperless Office document delivery, Visual Integrator processes, and reporting

The good news is that if you handle those steps now, your upgrade process will be substantially easier, and you can look forward to taking advantage of your all-new, better-than-ever Sage 100 system.

Curious about what you, specifically, can expect?

Reach out to Ardent (or your Sage 100 partner) for a full walkthrough of your upgrade path. After your discussion, you should have a good idea of how long it'll take, a cost range, and whether you should plan for a straightforward installation or a bigger infrastructure project.
